Born on 23 November 1962 in Kota, Rajasthan, Shri Om Birla began public life as a student leader, rising to become one of India's most respected parliamentarians. Elected thrice as MLA from Kota South and thrice as Member of Parliament from Kota–Bundi, he was elected Speaker of the 17th Lok Sabha in June 2019 — and re-elected in June 2024, becoming the first Speaker in over four decades to serve consecutive full terms.
Known for his discipline, warmth and deep connect with the common citizen, he has championed a digital, accessible and productive Parliament while transforming Kota–Bundi through education, healthcare, infrastructure and his flagship environmental mission — Green Kota, Clean Kota.
